In winter storms a very large tree at the lower end of the graveyard was blown over.  An adjacent tree partly supported it so both were in a very dangerous state.

Thanks to the 'Friends' both trees were felled and made safe  and are being sawn for sale as logs for wood burning stoves.  There are some photographs of the felled trees on the web site.

English Heritage are funding the restoration of the Motte and Bailey within the grounds of St. Mary's Church.  The site has been neglected for many years, but now the 'Friends' have begun the process of restoration.  Trees which have grown on the motte have now been felled and the wood is being removed by the Friends.  Later it will be protected and grassed.
